We celebrate summer at the library in a big way! We have Reading Challenges for all ages, programs, and exciting events for all everyone, all summer long, at both the Abington Free Library and the Roslyn Library.

Children’s Summer Reading
Children of all ages are invited to join us as we present, “Unearth A Story” for our 2026 Summer Reading Program! Join us all summer for storytimes, dancing, science, music, animal presentations, book clubs, and more.
Children birth to pre-K will have the opportunity to complete early literacy activities and can earn up to two free books.
Children entering kindergarten through grade 5 will set their own reading goals from June 21 to August 15. When they meet or exceed their goals they will receive prizes from local business as well as free books!

Teen Summer Reading
Teens entering grades 6-12 are invited to join the Library for our Summer Reading Challenge! Download the Beanstack app (click this link to get started). You can also stop by the Abington Free Library to get your paper Tracking Booklet and go analog for the summer! Feel free to pick one or both options! Log your reading, attend programs, and earn prizes each week from June 21-August 15!
Adult Summer Reading Challenges
Participate in Adult Summer Reading through Beanstack. Write reviews and complete challenges for a chance to win prizes! Summer reading is a great time to discover all of the things the library has to offer. Try finding a movie on Kanopy that links to the book you’re reading, borrow one of our museum passes for a day trip, learn more about the non-fiction topic you’re investigating, check out a book in new genre for the first time! Don't forget e-Resources for magazines, games, plus you can check out books, audiobooks, and more through through Libby and hoopla.
Abington READS! 2026
For children entering grades 1–3.
This summer, sign up for a three-week session to be paired up with a Teen buddy who will encourage young readers and help build their reading confidence.
Session 1 - Thursdays, June 25, July 2, and July 9
Registration for Session 1 opens on June 11.
Session 2- Thursdays, July 16, July 23, July 30
Registration for Session 2 opens June 25.
